BARRIE, ON – February 1, 2010 - The World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships will be one of the major tournaments of 2010 you will not want to miss. We will be adding new sponsor involvement this year that will improve our first class prize and awards structure significantly. As this is our 15th year of running the event, we are very excited to work even harder to make this the best year ever to participate.
The best of the best have joined us to compete in this annual tournament and it remains one of the premiere places to test your skills against the top players in the outdoor sport. We will be working this year to increase the participation and bring more premiere teams to the event.
The cost will remain reasonable with adult teams paying $600 Canadian and the youth teams paying $500. Space will be limited this year as we are reaching capacity at the facilities, so please make sure you submit your minimum $200 deposit prior to July 31, 2010.
We have shifted some of the adult events between weekends and moved the Youth championships earlier in August. The Youth divisions have been adjusted to better align with the club level Elite Leagues and there will be four events in 2010. The four divisions are: Under 18, U16, U14, and U12 for the Youth WOBHC tournament weekend August 13-15, at the Niagara Ball Hockey Club.
All divisions will play a minimum of three games and compete for their share of more than $35,000 in prizes going to the top four teams in each division. We plan to issue all event schedules one week prior to each weekend. We are working on accommodation arrangements and the event planning early this year and will post a list of approved places we recommend that will be providing you with preferred rates on their rooms. 2010 WOBHC Event Dates:
August 13-15, 2010 – Youth U18, U16, U15, and U12 Divisions
Entry fee is $500 per team. To be held at the Niagara Ball Hockey Club located at 450 Eastchester Avenue, St. Catharines, Ontario.
September 24-26, 2010 – Men’s A & B and Women’s A & B
Entry fee is $600 per team. To be held at the Barrie Ball Hockey Club located at 125 Ferndale Drive North, Barrie, Ontario.
October 1-3 2010 – Co-ed A & B and Men’s Over 35
Entry fee is $600 per team. To be held at the Niagara Ball Hockey Club located at 450 Eastchester Avenue, St. Catharines, Ontario.
All team entries require a MINIMUM deposit of $200 to secure a spot in the tournament. We accept cash, debit, Visa or MasterCard payments and payment can be made at any of our four locations. Credit card information can be taken over the phone and we are also developing an internet option for deposits.
All divisions must show identification. Birth Certificates, Birth Registration Certificates or Passports will be accepted for Youth Participants. ALL adult participants must show picture ID (Drivers’ License, Passport) at team registration PRIOR to participating in any games.
Any and all player suspensions will carry over to future WOBHC events. Please check with the Tournament Director or the Restricted Player Lists for carry-over suspensions from previous events.
YOUTH WOBHC Tournament Information:
An Adult coach is required on the bench for all games played by teams participating in this event. The only restriction for participation is the age requirements.
Under 18 (U18) – this division is open to participants born after August 15th 1992, and any player born in 1993 or later. No players will be 18 years of age or older in this event.
Under 16 (U16) – this division is open to any player born in 1995 or later. No players will be 16 years of age or older in this event.
Under 14 (U14) – this division is open to any player born in 1997 or later. No players will be 14 years of age or older in this event.
Under 12 (U12) – this division is open to any player born in 1999 or later. No players will be 12 years of age or older in this event.
Co-ed Tournament Information:
Co-ed Competitive – there will be no player restrictions for this division, exactly the same as the other “open” Women’s A, Men’s A, and Men’s Over 35 divisions.
Co-ed Recreational – there will be a two player maximum on these teams from the Men’s and Women’s restricted player lists. These lists are posted on our web site.
The rules enforced will be the Ball Hockey Ontario Co-Ed rules.
Women’s Tournament Information:
Women’s A – there are no player restrictions for this open division.
Women’s B – there are player restrictions for this division. Please verify that your roster meets the criteria set out with respect top the use of players off the Women’s Restricted Player Lists. These lists are posted on our web site.
Men’s Tournament Information:
Men’s A – there are no player restrictions for this open division.
Men’s B – there are player restrictions for this division. Please verify that your roster meets the criteria set out with respect top the use of players off the Men’s Restricted Player Lists. These lists are posted on our web site.
Men’s Over 35 – there are no player restrictions for this open division, other than age. Participants must be born in 1975 or any year prior. Each team will be allowed a maximum of two players at least 33 years of age by October 1, 2010.
