Event Rating Database – Appeal Process

Event Rating Database – Appeal Process

Ballhockey.com maintains an Event Rating Database to protect competitive integrity and ensure fair division placement across all sanctioned events. Player ratings are generated automatically based on event rosters submitted by external organizations (CBHA, USA Ball Hockey), as well as our own events. As a result, ratings may appear even if a player did not ultimately participate in games, as our database pulls directly from official rosters, regardless of games played.

When an Appeal Is Applicable

A rating appeal may be submitted only under specific circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • A player being rostered on a higher-division team (e.g., “A”) for a sanctioned event
  • The player did not participate in any games due to injury, personal reasons, or other legitimate circumstances
  • The issuing event still lists the player on the official roster, resulting in an automatic rating assignment

Example:
A player is rated “A” after appearing on an Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) Nationals roster, despite not playing in the event.

Appeal Requirements

To ensure fairness and consistency, the following requirements must be met for an appeal to be considered:

  • Written confirmation from the issuing event organizer (e.g., CBHA) confirming that the player did not participate in the event
  • Confirmation must be sent or forwarded directly to Ballhockey.com event personnel (listed below)
  • Appeals must be submitted a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the start of the upcoming Ballhockey.com event

Appeals submitted without official confirmation, or within the 7-day window, will not be reviewed.

Review & Outcome

Once confirmation is received and verified:

  • Ballhockey.com will review the appeal internally
  • If validated, the associated rating will be removed from the Event Rating Database
  • The adjustment applies only to the verified event entry and does not alter historical roster data from the issuing organization

This process ensures both accuracy of the database and fair access to appropriate divisions, without undermining the integrity of sanctioned events.
