The Adult Shootout 2026 brings the excitement of our popular shootout format to the adult game. This one-day event is all about individual skill, creativity, and goaltending under pressure, a fast-paced, high-energy competition that’s unlike anything else on the adult ball hockey calendar.
Taking place on May 2, 2026, the event is open to adult teams looking for a fun, competitive experience in a professionally run tournament environment.
Event Details
- Date: May 2, 2026
- Registration Deadline: April 27, 2026
- Divisions: Men’s Open, Co-ed Open, Women’s Open
- Entry Fee: $200 + tax per team
- Prizing: $500 cash prize for the division champions!
- Format: Shootout-style games with preliminary and elimination rounds
- Team Size: 4 players + 1 goaltender (one sub allowed – rules below)
Tournament Format & Rules Overview
Game Structure
- Preliminary round games consist of four full rounds.
- Elimination round games also consist of four full rounds, with overtime if tied.
- There are no breaks between rounds, keeping the pace fast and exciting.
Shootout Format
- Each player shoots twice per round, for a total of 8 shots per team per round.
- All four players on one team must complete their shots before the opposing team shoots.
- One complete round is finished once all players from both teams have taken two shots.
Overtime Rules (Elimination Rounds)
- Overtime consists of one shooter per team per round, selected by the team.
- The same player may shoot repeatedly until a winner is determined.
- Each overtime goal is worth 1 point.
Team Composition
- Maximum roster: 4 players and 1 goaltender
- One substitute may be designated per team per round (a team must declare what four shooters — out of the up-to-five available — will be shooting per round)
- Goalkeepers may substitute as players (and vice versa) only if not acting in both roles simultaneously.
- If a player cannot be replaced due to injury or absence, their shots are forfeited (team shoots 6 times per round).
- Substitute players must be declared before playoff games begin and must meet rating requirements.
- Teams must follow all tournament restrictions or risk automatic disqualification.
SCORING SYSTEM
- Each goal = 1 point
- Goals scored by a female player = 2 points
- Standings points (Preliminary Round):
- Win: 2 points
- Tie: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
- Standings are ranked by:
- 1. Total points
- 2. Goal differential (goals for / goals against)
- 3. Total goals scored
GAME PROCEDURES & SAFETY
- Shooters must continuously move forward—no stopping or moving backward.
- Play ends once the goalkeeper makes contact with the ball.
- No goals may be scored off rebounds (with limited post/crossbar exceptions).
- Goalkeepers have 5 seconds to reset between shots.
- Dangerous actions, charging, or attempts to distract or injure will result in automatic goals or player expulsion.
- Any forfeited or disqualified match results in a 7–0 victory for the opposing team.
