Men’s Recreation Division – New for the Garden City Classic!
Why We’re Adding This Division
As our tournaments continue to grow, we’ve identified a clear demand for a true Men’s Recreational-level tournament experience, one that prioritizes competition, camaraderie, and balance without crossover from higher-tier players.
How the Men’s Recreation Division Will Be Structured
To ensure the appropriate competitive level, this division will operate under a pre-admission review process:
Roster Submission Required Before Acceptance
- Teams must submit their full roster prior to being formally admitted into the Men’s Recreation division.
- Registration alone does not guarantee placement.
- Final approval will be confirmed following review by tournament organizers.
Competitive Level Review Process
Our review will assess:
- Current and recent league participation levels
- Player ratings (where applicable)
- Tournament history
- Overall team composition
Participation Limits from Previous D Division Tournament Teams
To further protect the level of this division:
- We will limit the number of players per team who have previously participated on D Division tournament teams in recent events such as:
- WOBHC
- Blizzard Battle
While D Division at events like WOBHC and Blizzard Battle represents strong competitive tournament play, the Men’s Recreation division at Garden City Classic is structured to sit below that level in terms of overall roster composition and competitive intensity.
Note: The Men’s Rec Division strictly does not permit any Men’s A, B, or C players. In addition, no current rostered members in Division 2 (Spring 2026) are eligible to play Men’s Rec.
What “Recreational” Means at Garden City Classic
This division is intended for:
- True recreational league players
- Teams not primarily composed of high-level competitive athletes
- Groups looking for structured tournament play without elite-tier intensity
If you are considering entering this division and are unsure about eligibility, we encourage you to reach out prior to registration.

Player Ratings Database Information
The Ballhockey.com Events Player Ratings Database (effective October 1, 2025) is in effect for this event.
*All teams must adhere to the Ballhockey.com Events Player Ratings Database, found on the Events/Tournament Restrictions page, as well as under the “Tournaments” navigation menu.
Each division has specific rating restrictions that determine which players are eligible to participate. Team reps are responsible for knowing and following these restrictions when submitting their roster (also helpful if players know their rating)
All divisional restrictions and details on how the Player Ratings Database works can be found here: Tournament Guidelines
Once you’ve reviewed the divisional restrictions, your next step is to ensure that all players on your roster are eligible.
This process ensures your roster complies with all division requirements and helps maintain fair, competitive play across every tournament.
