Introducing Game Plan 2027: Helping Shape Our Next Calendar of Events
At Ballhockey.com, we are always working to make our events feel fair, competitive, and true to the level each division is meant to represent. Our parity framework and our Event Player Ratings Database have helped us get there, but we know the work is never finished. As our events continue to grow, so does our responsibility to make sure every team is entering an environment where they have a fair and legitimate chance to succeed.
Today, we are formally launching that next step: Game Plan 2027.
What the review will look at
Game Plan 2027 is an exploratory, community-informed look at the structures that shape competition at our events. Three areas are at the centre of it:
- Our ratings and eligibility system: how player ratings and divisional roster restrictions are used to keep divisions aligned with their intended level.
- Division structure and team movement: how teams progress over time, and whether there is room for a clearer pathway that helps top-performing teams advance into higher divisions.
- Connecting our events: whether linking tournaments across the yearly event calendar could reward consistency, add stakes to every event, and give a fuller picture of how teams are developing across an entire event year rather than a single weekend.
The goal is threefold: to continue strengthening parity within each division, to build healthier and more populated divisions by giving teams a genuine path to grow and move up, and to tie our events together so the season tells a connected story from the first tournament to the last.
To be clear, no decisions have been made. This is the beginning of a review, not the announcement of a change. Any adjustments that come out of it would be considered for our 2027 calendar of events… and only after we have listened to those interested in helping being a part of what’s to come.
We want to hear from you
The people who live these events every weekend (team reps, captains, players, and organizers) understand them in ways no spreadsheet can. Your perspective matters to us, and we would genuinely appreciate your input.
Over the coming months, we will be opening up discussions with voices from across the ball hockey community to talk through ideas, pressure-test concepts, and hear what is working and what could be better. Whether you have run teams in our D division for years or you are pushing toward the top of the divisional pyramid, your experience will help shape where we go next.
How to get involved
If you would like to share your thoughts or take part in upcoming discussions:
- Send an email to [email protected] with some of your initial ideas and best ways to contact you.
We will share more details on discussion sessions and timelines as the review moves forward with those that are interested to take part. Thank you for being part of the game, and for helping us build events worth showing up for.
