A New Way to Compete
This summer, Ballhockey.com is launching something we’ve never done before: the Men’s Competitive Draft League — a 12-week competitive season, plus playoffs, running through the summer of 2026 and into September.
How It Works
Step 1 — Submit Your Interest: Register as an individual player — no payment required upfront. During signup, you’ll have the option to name one player you’d like to be paired with in the draft (completely optional — see Player Pairing below).
Step 2 — The Draft: Once registration fills, we’ll hold a draft — at Montana’s!! — where team captains select their rosters from the full player pool. Details on the captain selection process and draft format will be announced soon. DRAFT NIGHT: JULY 26 8pm (at Montana’s BBQ & Bar)
Step 3 — The Season: Teams hit the rink for a 12-week regular season, followed by playoffs, wrapping up in September 2026.
Player Pairing — How It Works
Want to make sure you land on the same team as a buddy? Here’s the deal:
- Each player may request a pairing with a maximum of one other player.
- Pairings must be mutual — both players must select each other during registration for the link to count heading into the draft.
- If the pairing is mutual, you’ll be drafted together as a linked duo.
- If only one side of the pairing is submitted, the request will not be linked, and both players will enter the draft individually.
Pairing is completely optional. Plenty of players will enter solo — that’s the spirit of a draft league.
Registration & Cost
$160 + tax per player
No payment is required to submit your interest. The registration fee is only collected once you’ve been drafted to a team, and must be paid prior to playing your first game.

- Full 12-week regular season plus playoffs
- Official draft league t-shirt — yours to keep after the season wraps up
- Entry into the draft player pool

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a team to sign up? No — that’s the whole point. Everyone registers as an individual, and teams are built through the draft.
Do I pay when I sign up? No. Submitting your interest is free. The $160 + tax registration fee only applies if you’re drafted to a team, and must be paid before you play your first game.
Can I request to play with a friend? Yes. You can name one player during registration. As long as they name you too, you’ll be linked together heading into the draft.
Can I pair with more than one person? No. Pairings are capped at one player per person to keep the draft balanced and fair.
Who are the team captains? Details on the captain selection process are coming soon. Stay tuned.
When and where is the draft? The draft will take place once registration fills — and it will take place at Montana’s BBQ & Bar in St. Catharines. More information will be shared with registered players on date and time, etc.
When does the season start? The season kicks off in summer 2026 (aiming for late July/early August start), running 12 weeks with playoffs concluding in September 2026.
