Niagara Youth Leagues

Our House League level of play is offered year round and encourages players to make new friends in a positive environment. Divisions are based on birth year with 2-3 birth years combined to form each division. We encourage players of all skill levels including those brand new to the game and do our best to form teams based on prior knowledge for fair competition


DIVISIONS OFFERED, GAME & PRACTICE DAYS

We release a schedule at the beginning of the season featuring your team’s games & practices. It will feature 12-15 events over the course of 10 weeks and then a playoff weekend tournament to follow. Therefore, there will be some weeks where you have a game/practice on both listed days & some weeks on only one of the listed days below.

This is your final opportunity to include one friend request with your child’s registration. As a remind, all friend requests must be reciprocal in order to be accepted. Coaches will be entitled to a max of 4 requests including friend requests, siblings & assistant coaches. This is the final date to confirm your child’s registration for the upcoming season. Any registrations taken beyond this date will be subject to availability. Team rosters are released to coaches and posted online along with ‘Meet the Coach” practice times. Parents will receive an e-mail from the league with this information as well as an introductory e-mail from their child’s coach shortly thereafter. This is both your child’s first opportunity to meet his/her coach, as well as the first team practice. Players will be introduced to their respective coaches and will receive their jersey on this day. ll youth divisions wrap up in a double-elimination tournament with all players receiving prizing.

WHATS INCLUDED?

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

Ice hockey helmets are the standard, but there are lightweight ball hockey options available. Cages must be worn by anyone under the age of 18. Shinpads must completely cover both the shin and knee cap. (These can be two separate pieces) Protective gloves required with full palms. Ball hockey, ice hockey or lacrosse gloves accepted. You can wear your favourite running shoes, but some are designed better for ball hockey. Reinforced toed shoes not permitted (Goalies exempt). Composite, ABS & wooden sticks accepted. Sticks must be in good shape with tape on the knob. Elbow pads are optional, but recommended. Jock / Jill straps are optional but recommended.
