Ballhockey.com, Ball Hockey International (BHI) and XBHL are proud to announce the Ontario Youth Circuit, a new youth ball hockey circuit beginning with the 2027 event season.
The circuit brings three ball hockey organizations together around one shared goal: giving the teams, coaches, players and families who put in the work to build a team a season worthy of that effort. Instead of a collection of one-off weekends, the circuit links five tournaments into a single season where every game matters and every event counts.
How the circuit works
The circuit runs across five events, with six divisions at every stop: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. Each division keeps its own standings and crowns its own champion.
Circuit teams commit to the full season. A team registers under one name, competes in one division all year, and enters all five events, each worth equal points. A team that misses or withdraws from an event is removed from circuit contention.
Hosts may still welcome teams that aren’t enrolled in the circuit. Those teams play for each event’s own prizing but don’t earn circuit points.
How points are earned
At every event, circuit teams earn placement points based on where they finish in their division.
| Finish | Points |
|---|---|
| Champion | 100 |
| Finalist | 75 |
| Semifinalist (both teams) | 55 |
| Quarterfinal or earlier playoff exit | 40 |
| Participation | 25 |
There is no third-place game, so both semifinal losers earn 55. Bonus points reward strong play along the way: each shutout is worth 2 points, up to 10 per event, and an undefeated round robin adds 5. That puts a maximum of 115 points on the table at every event.
Points from all five events are added together, and standings are posted live on the circuit website after every stop. If teams are tied at season’s end, head-to-head record decides it first, followed by finish at the final event and then total wins.
Rosters and eligibility
Each team may list up to 18 players, goalies included, on its roster for each event. Every player on a team’s roster at the first event is locked to that team for the full season, which keeps rosters stable and the standings meaningful.
Teams still have some flexibility. Before each of the remaining events, a team may replace up to four original players. Player releases are also possible, but they must be requested by the team and approved by Circuit Administration.
Divisions are set by birth year for the whole season, and the circuit has a zero over-ager policy, with no exceptions for goalies, injuries or short benches. Players may play up into an older division.
Crowning Circuit Champions
After the final event, the team with the most points in each division is crowned Circuit Champion. Every event keeps its own prizing, and a Circuit Champions Grand Prize is awarded in each division on top of it. Details on the Grand Prize will be announced at a later date.
What’s next
This announcement is just the beginning. More details will follow in the coming months, including a dedicated circuit website, circuit social channels and more.
